Mission
The mission of the Office of the Genesee County Sheriff (GCS) is to improve the quality of life in Genesee County by working together with all citizens to preserve life, maintain human rights, protect property, and promote public safety.
Project Statement
The Office of the Genesee County Sheriff (GCS) formed an interdisciplinary Elder Abuse and Exploitation Prevention Team (EAP Team) with the Center for Gerontology (CFG) that works with the Genesee County Probate Court and the Genesee County Prosecutor's Office. These entities will uniquely combine law enforcement investigative services with health and social services to prevent elder abuse and exploitation; effectively address elder abuse; and provide community outreach/public education about how to prevent elder abuse and exploitation. This collaborative service delivery model will allow for coordinated use of resources housed in one, easily accessible location. The Elder Abuse and Exploitation Prevention Team will provide the probate court with detailed information to make the most appropriate guardianship/conservatorship decisions to ensure that older adults are cared for in a safe and ethical manner.
SEE IT. STOP IT. PREVENT IT.
Every day vulnerable older adults are taken advantage of by people they trust. If you suspect abuse, exploitation or neglect, please call the Elder Abuse Prevention office at (810) 762-4022
